How Long Should a Group Volunteer Trip Abroad Be?
For most groups, 2–4 weeks is an ideal length for a volunteer trip abroad. It gives people enough time to settle into the destination, understand the project and take part meaningfully without requiring a long absence from school, work or other commitments.

I generally think two to four weeks is a good target for a group.
It gives people enough time to get into a routine without making the trip unnecessarily difficult to organise around work, school or other commitments.
I wouldn't choose the duration first, though. I'd look at the project and the group, then ask how much time is realistically useful. If people are rushing through the experience because they can only stay for a few days, that may not be the best fit. Equally, staying longer isn't automatically better if the group doesn't need or want it.
