A Note From Our Founder
Kurt, Founder of Abroad Escape
Travel has influenced both my personal life and my career.
After graduating from college, I spent a year travelling around the world before living in Asia for five years. That experience eventually led me to a career helping people experience new cultures, live abroad, and travel with purpose.
Over the past two decades, I've worked with volunteer programs, internships, and travel organisations across Asia, Africa, and Europe. Those experiences taught me what makes an international program well organised, enjoyable, and genuinely worthwhile.
I created Abroad Escape to help travellers plan meaningful experiences with trusted local program partners. My goal is to provide honest advice, practical guidance, and support throughout the planning process.

We'll answer your questions and confirm availability with the local program partner.
3. Receive Your Personalised Program Proposal
If a program is suitable, we'll send you a personalised proposal outlining:

- Available dates
- Accommodation information
- What's included
- Program fees
4. Confirm Your Place
Once you're ready to proceed, you'll complete a booking form and pay a deposit to secure your placement.
5. Prepare for Your Trip
We'll provide pre-departure information to help you prepare for your trip.
6. Arrive and Start Your Placement
Upon arrival, you'll be welcomed by the local program partner and begin your volunteer placement.

Is Abroad Escape suitable for first-time travellers?
Yes. Many participants are travelling independently for the first time. Programs include orientation and ongoing support from the organisation delivering your placement.
Who provides accommodation and local support?
Accommodation, airport pickup, orientation, and in-country support are provided by the local program partner responsible for delivering the program.
Do I need previous experience?
Most volunteer programs do not require previous experience. Some internships and specialist placements may have specific eligibility requirements, qualifications, or experience requirements.
Are international flights included?
No. International flights are not included unless specifically stated. Participants are responsible for arranging their own flights.
Is travel insurance required?
Yes. Comprehensive travel and medical insurance is required for all participants.
