Your Internship

Veterinary Internship in Nepal

Work as an intern at a veterinary clinic in Kathmandu and gain hands-on experience in the field. Learn by observing the procedures at the clinic, get involved in the day-to-day tasks of the clinic staff, assist the veterinary doctors where required, and gather a valuable qualification for your resume while moving forward in the field of Veterinary Medicine.

Veterinary science is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease as well as disease prevention in animals of all types, from family pets to farm livestock and zoo animals.

Embarking on your internship journey, you’ll be based at the esteemed Kathmandu Animal Treatment Shelter (KAT), one of the oldest dog shelters in Kathmandu. Your role will be centered at the KAT veterinary clinic in Kathmandu, offering you an immersive experience in veterinary practices. Through active participation, you’ll observe procedures and collaborate with doctors and hospital staff, gaining valuable insights into the intricacies of veterinary care.

KAT stands out for its commitment to aiding the stray cat and dog population of Kathmandu, with a primary focus on Animal Birth Control (ABC). As an intern, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting the veterinary staff by actively participating in surgeries and various operations, contributing directly to the shelter’s mission of rescue and treatment.

The journey to KAT from our Program house takes approximately an hour, owing to its strategic location away from the city. This relocation was necessitated by noise complaints when the shelter was closer to urban areas. Upon reaching the vicinity of KAT via public bus, a brief 20-minute walk completes the journey, allowing you to witness firsthand the challenges and dedication involved in caring for animals in need.

Aims & Objectives

Career development for young individuals, by applying and progressing their skills in a foreign working environment.
