The local team will be waiting for you, ready to transfer you to your accommodation where you’ll meet fellow volunteers from around the world.

During the orientation, you’ll receive a comprehensive introduction to your program, accommodations, and the exciting projects that await. Plus, you’ll learn all the do’s and don’ts of local customs, giving you a head start on immersing yourself in the rich and vibrant culture of Zanzibar.

Your Accommodation

Child Care in Zanzibar

Child Care in Zanzibar

Teach and Inspire in Zanzibar! Ready to make a real impact while exploring a new culture? Join us in Zanzibar, where you’ll work with local kindergartens, childcare centers, and primary schools, helping young children (ages 3-6) learn and grow. You’ll assist teachers in daily classroom activities, from sharing basic English, numbers, and colors to creating fun learning experiences like drawing, singing, and games. Your creativity is the key!

Whether you’re placed in a kindergarten, childcare center, or the first two grades of primary school, you’ll work closely with local staff to keep things running smoothly. Groups can range from 10 to 30 kids, so your help will be greatly appreciated, and you’ll even get the chance to lead your own activities. Think of it as a chance to use your imagination while helping kids learn through stories, poems, songs, and games.

English is taught widely in Zanzibar, but rural areas often have fewer opportunities for practice. That’s where you come in—helping kids improve their English skills, which can seriously boost their future opportunities.

There is also the evening teaching program at a local Community Center on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. From 7 PM to 9 PM, you’ll teach groups of students ranging from 4 to 20 years old. Working alongside local teachers, you’ll help prepare and lead lessons, getting even more hands-on teaching experience.

Schedule

Monday to Friday

You will work for 4-5 hours per day, with a break in between, assisting with program placement. You will have time in the afternoon to prepare for the next day’s activities and lessons before dinner. The day could look like this:

Breakfast at the accommodation
Engage children in creative learning activities and assist local teaching staff
Morning break at the program
Engage children in creative learning activities and assist local teaching staff
Help local staff serve lunch to the children
Lunch at the accommodation

Teaching English in Zanzibar

Teaching English in Zanzibar

Want to make a real difference while exploring one of the most stunning places on earth? Join us in Zanzibar, where you’ll work alongside local teachers, helping students thrive in an engaging, supportive environment. Your presence alone can open doors for these kids, giving them a chance to experience something beyond their daily routines.

Teachers here are shaping the future, but they need extra hands to keep up with the growing needs of their classrooms. By volunteering, you’ll be providing that much-needed support, helping broaden the horizons of local students who don’t often get the chance to experience international connections. And what better place to do it than Zanzibar, an island full of rich traditions and a mix of cultures?

We partner with primary and secondary schools all over Zanzibar, mostly outside the city, where there’s a big need for teaching help in subjects like English, Math, and Science. You’ll be jumping in by singing songs, playing educational games, and keeping the kids engaged with creative activities like drawing, sports, crafts, and more!

This teaching assistant program is focused on helping kids from ages 5 to 14 (K-7), with school running from 8 AM to noon. If you’re eager for more hands-on experience, you can even talk with the local team to extend your hours. Most days, you’ll spend around 4 hours with the kids, plus time for lesson planning and sometimes even after-school activities.

If you want to go the extra mile, bring along fun stuff like games, colored pencils, books, or even some clothes or toys to donate—these small things make a big impact! We also encourage you to bring pictures or objects from your home country to share in the classroom, creating lessons that expand the kids’ view of the world in a fun and meaningful way.

There is also the Evening Teaching Program. On Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings, you’ll also have the chance to teach at a nearby Community Center from 7 PM to 9 PM. In this program, you’ll work with students of all ages (4 to 20 years old) alongside local teachers, leading lessons and group activities that you help plan.

This is your opportunity to inspire young minds, make lasting connections, and experience the vibrant life and culture of Zanzibar. Ready to be part of the change? Zanzibar is calling!

Sports Coaching in Zanzibar

Sports Coaching in Zanzibar

Love sports? Ready to make a real difference in the lives of kids? Now’s your chance! Dedicate your time to bringing the joy of sports to the children of Stonetown, Zanzibar, and help them discover their potential through play, teamwork, and competition.

Get hands-on by coaching local kids, teaching sports techniques, organizing matches, and showing them how sports can shape their lives. Whether it’s football, basketball, athletics, or even cricket, your involvement could spark a lifelong love for the game in these young athletes. Plus, you’ll be working alongside the community and other volunteers who share your passion for sports.

Sports aren’t just about physical fitness—they’re about building character. Kids who play sports are more likely to do better in school, stay healthy, and avoid negative influences like smoking or drinking. Through this program, you’ll be helping the next generation build confidence, resilience, and teamwork skills that will last a lifetime.

Tanzania’s love for sports is strong, especially with world-class athletes dominating athletics. But football, basketball, rugby, and cricket are also popular across the country, and there’s a real passion for the games. This is your chance to be part of a country that values sports and believes in its power to transform lives.

In this sports coach program, you’ll teach kids from different age groups and skill levels. Whether you’re guiding them through their first dribble or helping them master a jump shot, your coaching will leave a lasting impact. You’ll also get the freedom to use your own training methods, so bring your creativity and energy to the field!

Every day will be packed with coaching sessions at local schools, where you’ll introduce basic skills, tactics, and rules for sports like:

– Football: Tanzania’s most beloved sport, especially among the youth. You’ll coach kids from U12 to U17, teaching them everything from dribbling to match strategies.
– Basketball: Help kids perfect their offense, defense, and teamwork while organizing friendly matches and drills.
– Cricket: Teach batting skills and strategy, and show them how to think like a pro on the field.
– Rugby & Baseball: These growing sports need your expertise—whether it’s throwing, catching, or mastering the basics, you’ll inspire them to play with passion.
– Athletics: With Tanzania producing world-class runners, your training in speed, stamina, and strength could help these young athletes chase their Olympic dreams.

You don’t need to be a professional coach to make an impact. All you need is your passion for sports and the drive to inspire the next generation. Plus, you’ll be exploring the beautiful town of Stonetown, immersing yourself in a vibrant culture while making a difference.

What you will be doing…

– Daily coaching sessions where you’ll teach the fundamentals of sports
– The chance to organize matches and events with local clubs
– Helping young athletes improve their skills and discipline
– Offering encouragement, motivation, and constructive feedback
– Sharing health and lifestyle tips to promote overall well-being
– Making sports fun, inspiring, and life-changing for the children

You’ll also be able to bring any sports equipment or training aids you want, as some schools may have limited resources. The kids are ready to learn and play—are you ready to help them unleash their potential?

This is more than just a sports coaching opportunity—it’s a chance to shape young lives, connect with a community, and have the experience of a lifetime. You’ll return home knowing you made a real difference, all while gaining coaching skills and creating unforgettable memories.

Environmental Conservation in Zanzibar

Environmental Conservation in Zanzibar

Are you passionate about making a real difference for the planet and ready to take action? If you’re someone who cares about the environment and wants to see positive change, this opportunity in Stone Town is calling your name!

Join us in revitalizing the historic streets of Stone Town, a place rich with culture and history, and help restore its beauty for future generations. By diving into hands-on environmental projects, you’ll play a key role in protecting our planet. Imagine yourself planting trees, cleaning beaches, setting up school gardens, and teaching kids about environmental conservation. It’s more than just a program—it’s a chance to impact real lives while tackling global issues like climate change and deforestation.

Tanzania is a treasure trove of natural beauty, and it’s doing its best to preserve its biodiversity by protecting a massive portion of its land. But deforestation and environmental damage are still huge challenges. Some areas have been left barren, no longer able to support wildlife, and this is where we step in to help reverse the damage.

Stone Town itself is a blend of cultures—Arab, Indian, European, and more—making it a hotspot for tourists. But with the growth in tourism comes more environmental strain. This program gives you the chance to give back to the community and the planet by taking part in eco-projects that will benefit future generations. And while you’re helping the environment, you’ll also get to explore the beauty of Tanzania like never before, connecting with nature and the local culture in a deep and meaningful way.

We’re working with local schools to get students involved in environmental conservation, showing them how to care for the world around them. By joining, you’ll not only clean up the roads, beaches, and community centers but also educate the next generation on how to protect the planet. You’ll be laying the foundation for a greener, healthier future.

This program is open to everyone—whether you’re studying environmental sciences, working in conservation, or just passionate about making an impact. It’s a chance to work side by side with locals, share knowledge, and take real steps towards solving global environmental issues.

Every day will be different, with tasks depending on the season and weather, but here’s what you’ll likely be involved in:

– Joining clean-up campaigns for roads, schools, and community spaces.
– Planting seeds and trees in school nurseries.
– Gardening and watering plants.
– Creating lesson plans and materials for conservation education.
– Teaching kids and community members about environmental conservation, especially around marine and coastal ecosystems.
– Bringing new ideas and technology to improve local conservation efforts.
