A structured volunteer experience construction and renovation work in Bali
In the villages around Ubud, buildings shape daily life. A classroom where children gather. A playground worn smooth by use. A shared space that holds the rhythm of the community.

Overview
You’ll spend your days contributing to construction and renovation work that supports village life. Schools, kindergartens, community centers, playgrounds, and sometimes private homes. The tasks are practical and varied. Mixing cement. Painting walls. Basic carpentry. Repairing furniture. Clearing and preparing materials. Gardening and landscaping when needed.
What a Typical Day Looks Like
No prior building experience is expected. Local coordinators and skilled workers guide the work. You learn by doing, alongside families who use these spaces every day. The environment is hands-on and unpretentious. Physical, sometimes tiring, often satisfying.
Plans can shift. Needs come first. One week may focus on a school. Another on a community hall or temple. Flexibility matters more than specialization.
After workdays, time slows. Evenings are relaxed. Weekends are free to explore nearby landscapes, beaches, and historic sites, with local support available to help organize trips if you wish.
The program runs year-round and starts weekly. Basic English is sufficient. No qualifications are required, but participants should be comfortable with physical work in warm conditions. Medical clearance is required for older participants. Parental consent is required for minors.
This is straightforward work.
Effort you can see.
Change you can touch.
Spaces improved, one wall at a time.

Role of the Volunteer
You’ll work on practical construction and renovation projects that support everyday life in the community. Schools, classrooms, playgrounds, community spaces, even family homes. Places that matter because people gather there. Learn there. Grow there.
The work is physical and varied. One day you might be mixing cement or laying bricks. Another, sanding wood, repairing furniture, painting walls, or helping reshape outdoor areas through simple landscaping. Tasks shift depending on what the community needs most at that moment.
You won’t be expected to arrive with expertise. Guidance comes from local coordinators and skilled community members who know the environment, the materials, and the pace that works. You’ll learn by doing. By watching. By trying, adjusting, and trying again.
There’s also room for creativity. Some placements involve adding color and character to kindergartens and primary schools. Murals. Simple designs. Visual details that make shared spaces feel brighter and more welcoming for children.
Plans are flexible by design. This program responds to real needs, not fixed agendas. If priorities change, the work changes too. That adaptability is part of the contribution.
Days usually begin with planning and preparation, then move into hands-on work at the site. Evenings are slower. Time to rest. To talk with other participants. To sit with sore muscles and a sense of progress.
Weekends are open. Bali stretches wide beyond the villages. Beaches. Hills. Quiet temples. Local coordinators can help organize trips, but how you spend that time is up to you.
