This is not about replacing local teachers. You support local staff by bringing English-language interaction, energy, games, conversation and creative activities into the classroom.

Turtle Conservation on Nusa Penida is based at a local turtle conservation centre where volunteers support the care, recovery and protection of sea turtles.

You may help with feeding turtles, cleaning pools, preparing food, monitoring basic turtle data, cleaning beaches and assisting the local team with conservation routines. Turtle nesting, hatching and releases are seasonal and cannot be guaranteed.

After breakfast, you clean pools, feed turtles and collect seaweed or live food. You may also make turtle enrichment items, clean the beach and help provide medication to injured turtles if needed and permitted by the local team.

Wednesday

Continue pool cleaning, feeding and food preparation. Depending on the project needs, you may support health monitoring, beach cleaning, maintenance tasks or data collection.

Thursday

Support the conservation centre with daily turtle care routines, cleaning, feeding, food preparation, maintenance and environmental support tasks. Activities depend on turtle needs and local priorities.

Friday

Final project activities for the week, including turtle care routines, cleaning, beach or centre maintenance and reflection with the local team. If a turtle release is possible, it happens only when turtles are ready and is never staged for volunteers.

You should arrive at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar on the confirmed arrival day. Airport pickup is included on the scheduled arrival day where listed for your confirmed Bali program.

Bali Locations

  • Ubud: Main base for Culture Week, Teaching, and Construction and Renovation.

Orientation

Orientation takes place on your first Monday. It covers local customs, accommodation, health and safety guidance, project expectations, practical rules, daily routines and local coordinator support.

Accommodation

Accommodation is included from the Sunday night before your start date through to the end of your final week. Ubud program volunteers stay in shared volunteer accommodation in or near Ubud. Nusa Penida turtle conservation volunteers stay on the island itself.

Rooms are shared with other volunteers. Exact room setup, facilities and location can vary by project, date and local arrangements.

Meals

Two to three meals per day are included on weekdays. Weekend meals are not included unless your proposal states otherwise.
