Make a lasting impact on the lives of children in Cambodia’s main tourist destination, Siem Reap. The Greenway School in the Krous village of Siem Reap teaches English to children from poorer backgrounds. Our local teachers will help you with preparing lessons and taking charge of your class, following our structured curriculum and monthly testing cycles. You might teach alone or alongside other internationals, like yourself, as a team.

Program Details

Become a part of the Greenway School community in Siem Reap, where you’ll have the chance to teach English to children from Krous village and nearby areas. You will work closely with local teachers in small teams, helping students ranging from beginner to intermediate levels improve their English skills. Teaching time with the students is divided into two shifts, with lunch and free time back at the accommodation in between.
After having breakfast at the accommodation, you will go to the placement/school alongside your coordinator for the first shift that begins in the morning from 08:00 -11:00 while the afternoon shift is from 13:00 – 16:00.
You should also expect to spend time working on the next day’s activities/exercises so that you are prepared and comfortable for the duration of the lesson. Your typical day will end with a savory dinner that you will surely enjoy together with other participants. Get ready to enjoy some additional activities designed especially for you.

Many schools, homes, and public spaces need construction and renovation to provide better learning environments for kids, host cultural events, and give local families safe, comfortable homes. Construction plays a crucial role in building up communities, creating jobs, and improving the quality of life—this is where you can make a real difference.

On this project, you’ll get hands-on with construction and renovation tasks. Our main focus is on improving local schools that serve children from nearby villages. Depending on the needs at the time, you might also work on community projects like building homes or fixing communal spaces.

You’ll be involved in tasks like renovating and building school facilities, sanitation areas, or even community houses. Your efforts will go wherever they’re needed most, whether that’s fixing up school walls, painting, gardening, or constructing pathways and fences.

No special qualifications or construction experience? No problem! Just be ready for physical work, as it can get hot and demanding. Your role might include:
– Assisting with construction and renovations of schools, homes, and other community spaces
– Digging, moving, and assembling materials
– Helping build playgrounds, toilets, classrooms, or fences
– Painting and landscaping

Teach English to kids at our school in remote Cambodia and make a real impact! The Greenway School, located in Pul village near Samraong, provides English education to children from low-income families. You’ll have the support of local teachers to help you prep lessons and lead your class, using our structured curriculum and monthly tests. Whether you’re teaching solo or teaming up with other international volunteers, this is an awesome opportunity to connect with the kids and help them build a brighter future!

Program Details

Every day, over 100 kids come to Greenway School in Samraong, eager to learn. They’re super grateful for the help you’ll provide in their education. The school itself was designed, built, and run by volunteers like you, with guidance from Mr. Ya Nuth, our local Cambodian manager and teacher.

Since 2008, Mr. Ya Nuth has been a huge leader in this rural community, working with volunteers to improve local schools and hospitals. In 2013, he opened Greenway School to offer free education to kids who wouldn’t otherwise have access to it. These students also attend regular public school but come to Greenway in their free time for extra English lessons.

What’s special about Greenway is that the kids genuinely love being here—they come on their own because they enjoy learning! Classes are held in a traditional classroom setting, but you’ll have plenty of flexibility to get creative with your lessons, as long as you follow the school’s curriculum and schedule.

You’ll work alongside local teachers and other volunteers, sometimes teaming up to make smaller groups for more focused learning. Before you start teaching, you’ll go through an orientation to figure out your class size, level, and teaching team.

To make sure the kids stay on track, you’ll need to stick to the pace set by the school directors—no skipping ahead! You’ll follow the curriculum and provide plenty of review to prepare students for weekly progress and end-of-year tests. The students range from 6 to 13 years old, with varying levels of English, so you’ll be teaching beginners up to level 5.

Class sizes are usually 10-30 students, and you’ll have basic teaching materials like whiteboards and flashcards. Feel free to bring any small learning tools or supplies to use in class or donate to the school—they’re always appreciated and help make learning even more fun!

Most days, you’ll bike to and from the school, which adds to the adventure.

Your tasks:

– Prepare fun and engaging English lesson plans.
– Teach English with help from the class teacher.

– Share basic hygiene tips and your own cultural experiences with the students.

You might also be involved in construction around the village, helping with home renovations, sanitation facilities, or even at the local hospital, depending on what’s needed at the time. Wherever you’re assigned, you’ll be putting your skills to good use where they’re needed most!

No experience in construction? No worries! You don’t need special qualifications—just be prepared for some physical work in the heat, though tasks will focus on light construction.

Your roles could include:

After breakfast, you will head off to the construction project; this will mainly be at our school, homes of local residents and local community facilities. There you will be briefed on your tasks for the day by our coordinator. You can expect to engage in construction and renovation work at the project location for 4-5 hours per day with a lunch break in between.
Lunch can be at our accommodation or near the project site.Your typical day will end with a savory dinner that you will surely enjoy together with other participants.
