Teaching Program

Embark on a rewarding journey of teaching and empowering children of various age groups in Nepal, offering them the gift of basic conversational English and other subjects that pique their interests. As you traverse different schools across diverse locations, be it urban, suburban, or rural, you will not only contribute to their academic growth but also engage in extracurricular activities that inspire them to unlock their full potential and broaden their horizons.

In Nepal, many individuals face financial constraints that limit their ability to travel, while those in remote villages have limited exposure to the outside world. As a foreign teacher, you will play a pivotal role in bridging these gaps, enabling students to build connections with someone from a different background and culture. Simultaneously, you will have the opportunity to learn alternative teaching methods and techniques, fostering a mutual exchange of knowledge and experiences. Your primary role will involve supporting the regular school teachers, so prior teaching experience is not mandatory.

Within this program, you will engage and educate children from diverse age groups, each with unique learning capacities. While you have the freedom to employ various teaching methodologies, you may utilize course books as references or adopt conversational English as a medium of instruction. During your time as an educator, you will have the chance to teach a wide array of subjects, including mathematics, history, science, geography, computer technologies, music, arts and crafts, educational games, personal development, environmental awareness, general health and safety, and more. Proficiency in English is crucial for higher education in Nepal, making it imperative for children to acquire this language skill. By being a dedicated and trained teacher, you will contribute to raising educational standards in Nepalese schools, especially considering the current adult literacy rate of 67%, leaving ample room for improvement.

From Monday to Friday, you will conduct four to five lessons, offering a refreshing departure from the conventional and often monotonous curriculum followed by the schools. Embracing out-of-the-box activities and introducing creative experiences such as sports and games will be warmly welcomed and greatly appreciated by the children, infusing joy and enthusiasm into their learning journey.

* Please note that the schedule outlined above is subject to change based on weather conditions, local considerations, and unforeseen circumstances

Kindergarten

Embark on a fulfilling journey as an English educator, dedicated to teaching essential language skills to children aged 3 to 6 years old at multiple kindergartens in Kathmandu. This project holds a special focus on serving underprivileged communities, where you will have the opportunity to assist teachers in these kindergartens and ignite the young minds with extracurricular activities that inspire them to reach their fullest potential and broaden their horizons through creatively structured lessons.

The kindergartens you will be working with cater to a group of 35 to 45 children, typically between the ages of 3 and 6 years old. These educational institutions are supported by a team of teachers and assisting staff who work tirelessly to guide and nurture the children. During your time there, you will play an instrumental role in teaching the children basic English skills, including alphabets, numbers, rhymes, and names of various objects. It is important to note that the children you will be working with come from underprivileged families facing economic challenges below the poverty line.

From Monday to Friday, your schedule will revolve around collaborating with the teachers and supporting them in their daily routines and activities. In addition to honing their language skills, you will also foster the development of their creative abilities through engaging activities such as coloring and artwork. Teaching basic written and conversational English will be a crucial component of your role, enabling the children to confidently communicate in the language. Moreover, you will have the opportunity to introduce interactive games that make learning enjoyable and interactive for the young learners.

Construction & Renovation

Embrace the opportunity to contribute to the uplifting and rebuilding of communities in this majestic Himalayan country. Together, we will make a difference by engaging in the reconstruction and support of deserving areas.

Our mission involves the construction and renovation of public buildings that require significant upgrades to enhance the standard of living for local communities. We have undertaken rebuilding projects in various parts of Kathmandu, focusing on restoring schools, hospitals, community centers, and homes. By joining our cause, you will actively participate in the renovation and construction activities at schools, children’s homes, rehabilitation centers, the KAT Centre (Kathmandu Animal Treatment Center), disabled children’s homes, and women empowerment centers. Throughout this project, you will be based in Kathmandu, staying at our center.

Your daily tasks will revolve around outdoor construction and renovation activities. These may include demolishing broken structures, erecting new walls using materials like cement, sand, stones, and bricks, engaging in painting projects, performing basic carpentry work, fencing the school premises, and preparing cement mixtures. Additionally, you may assist in shifting rocks from one location to another, lending your strength and skills to create tangible improvements.

From Monday to Friday, your activities may vary depending on the specific needs of the projects at that time. However, the core tasks involve the aforementioned construction and renovation responsibilities. Please note that this schedule is subject to adjustments and modifications based on weather conditions, local considerations, and unforeseen circumstances. Our priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, while maximizing our collective impact on the communities we serve.

Women Empowerment

Embark on a rewarding journey as an educator, dedicated to teaching basic conversational English, fundamental computer skills, and a range of subjects tailored to your interests to women of diverse age groups in Kathmandu.

This unique program entails teaching at a specially established school designed to educate and empower young and older women who have not had the opportunity to learn to read or write. Your role will involve not only assisting them with extracurricular activities but also inspiring them to unleash their full potential and broaden their horizons through creatively structured lessons.

The women you will be teaching are predominantly those who have migrated from rural areas to work as housemaids or housewives, and unfortunately, have been deprived of formal education. Many of them lack even the most basic education and face significant challenges in their daily lives, as education has become a fundamental aspect for survival in today’s world. By participating in this project, foreign teachers like yourself provide an invaluable opportunity for these women to form relationships with individuals from different backgrounds and cultures, while also gaining exposure to diverse teaching methods and techniques.

The schools we have established aim to educate and empower younger and older women in Kathmandu who have been deprived of education for various reasons. In this era of science and technology, education holds immense importance, surpassing even basic needs such as food, shelter, and clothing. The primary objective of these schools is to inspire and motivate these women to unleash their hidden talents and actively participate in the developmental activities of their families, communities, and the nation as a whole.

Your role as an educator will involve teaching and empowering adult women from different age groups, each with their own unique learning capacities. You are encouraged to employ various teaching methods that resonate with the students. Whether you choose to utilize course books as a reference or impart knowledge through conversational English, the subjects you can teach encompass a wide range, including mathematics, science, geography, computer technologies, music, spoken English, personal development, environmental awareness, general health and safety, and more. Fluency in English is vital as higher education in Nepal is conducted in this language. As a dedicated teacher, you will play a crucial role in raising educational standards in Nepalese schools, recognizing the ample room for improvement in adult literacy rates, currently at 67%.

From Monday to Friday, you will conduct four to five lessons per day. While the schools typically have a curriculum in place, your creativity and enthusiasm in bringing out-of-the-box activities and incorporating engaging experiences such as sports and games will be warmly welcomed by both the students and the staff.

Lastly, it’s important to note that the Culture Week is mandatory for this program, allowing you to acclimate to the environment and establish meaningful connections with the students and fellow educators.

Dog Rescue

Contribute to the noble cause of rescuing and rehabilitating dogs in need, working towards restoring their health before finding them loving homes.

This remarkable opportunity not only allows you to immerse yourself in the beauty of Nepal but also provides a unique chance to understand and connect with dogs on a deeper level, learning how to handle and care for them. The streets of Nepal often witness an unfortunate sight, with injured and starving dogs struggling to survive. In this program, you will actively participate in various activities, including rescuing these animals and nursing them back to good health.

The condition of animals in Nepal is distressing, as they are often neglected and abandoned as they age. On the streets, their plight worsens. Stray dogs and cows can be spotted in almost every corner of Kathmandu, left to fend for themselves and navigate the harsh realities of street life.

Throughout this program, you will play a vital role in rescuing and rehabilitating street dogs and those abandoned by their owners. These dogs often suffer from malnutrition and mange, and their bodies bear the scars of infected wounds, skin disorders, parasites, and the constant threat of losing limbs. Our program operates within the valley to address these challenges and combat the increasing number of street dogs. After rescue, these dogs find sanctuary in an animal shelter, where they receive the necessary care and attention before being released back into their natural habitat or offered for adoption, giving them a chance at a better life.

From Monday to Friday, you will spend your days shadowing experienced veterinary doctors, gaining valuable insights and may even have the opportunity to assist them in their noble work. Additionally, you may venture onto the streets of Kathmandu, identifying and rescuing dogs in need of immediate medical attention. Tasks may vary based on the current requirements but may include rescuing and treating injured street dogs, sterilizing female dogs, ensuring proper nourishment for stray dogs, cleaning their enclosures, walking and grooming them, and more.

Pokhara

Teaching Program

Nestled amidst the awe-inspiring Himalayas, the Pokhara Valley beckons with its breathtaking beauty, captivating us with serene green hills and glistening lakes. It is within this enchanting setting that you will have the remarkable opportunity to engage in teaching at small local schools, fostering meaningful connections with the children and igniting their potential through innovative and structured lessons.

In Nepal, where travel remains a luxury for many and the villages have limited contact with the outside world, foreign teachers become catalysts for transformative relationships. By bridging backgrounds and cultures, we open doors for students to expand their horizons, while simultaneously allowing teachers to discover unique methods and techniques in education. No prior teaching experience is required, as you will primarily assist the regular school teacher.

Our education project extends beyond mere curriculum delivery. It aims to empower children, instilling within them a sense of self-motivation and independence. At its core, it revolves around Educating the Children (ETC), empowering young minds to navigate life’s daily challenges through education. ETC embraces practical knowledge applicable to their lives, heightens their awareness of the environment, and nurtures their overall well-being. By teaching Basic/Conversational English and other subjects of your choice, you will guide children aged 5 to 16, each with their unique abilities and aptitudes. This immersive experience unfolds within the welcoming embrace of small local schools, where you will foster positive connections, facilitate extracurricular activities, and inspire students to embrace their full potential through engaging and imaginative lessons.

Your role extends beyond teaching; it encompasses nurturing and educating children from diverse age groups and varying learning capacities. While you are encouraged to explore different teaching methods, using course books as a reference or employing conversational and spoken English approaches, the subjects you can cover are vast. From mathematics, history, science, and geography to computer technologies, music, arts and crafts, and educational games, the scope is extensive. Equipping children with spoken English proficiency is vital, given that higher education in Nepal predominantly relies on this language. As a trained teacher, you will be instrumental in raising educational standards, as the adult literacy rate of 67% offers ample room for improvement.

Throughout this project, you will gain invaluable experience by observing the methodologies employed by seasoned teachers. The project is designed to take place in government, private, or community schools in and around the Pokhara region, ensuring a diverse and enriching environment.

Your day will be filled with different classes, totaling four to five per day. Embracing the spirit of creativity, your out-of-the-box activities, be it sports, games, or other innovative approaches, will be warmly received and cherished by the children. Remember, your role primarily entails assisting the regular school teacher, requiring no specific teaching background. Your dedication to educating and empowering children from various age groups and learning capacities will create lasting impacts.

The program duration spans a minimum of two weeks, with classes scheduled from Monday to Friday. School hours are from 10:00 to 16:00, during which you will be assigned as an assistant to a teacher overseeing a class of approximately 25 students. Lunch will be provided at the school around noon, and you have the option to continue teaching until 16:00 if you wish.

This project is for minimum 2 weeks.

* Please note that the schedule outlined above is subject to change based on weather conditions, local considerations, and unforeseen circumstances

Construction & Renovation

Embrace the opportunity to contribute to the construction and renovation efforts of local schools in the enchanting city of Pokhara, nestled amidst the majestic Himalayan mountains. Together, let us strive to create enhanced learning environments for children, making a lasting impact on their educational journey. Our mission encompasses a range of tasks, from renovation and construction to gardening and beautification, all aimed at transforming these schools into havens of knowledge and inspiration.

As a participant in this program, you will have the privilege of working directly at local schools in Pokhara, actively engaging in construction and renovation activities. Our projects are designed to improve school facilities, creating optimal spaces for learning and growth. Each day, you will embark on a fulfilling journey that combines both indoor and outdoor tasks, requiring varying degrees of physical effort.

Your work will involve a diverse range of construction and renovation activities, including painting, carpentry, fencing, and the revitalization of school premises. By participating in these tasks, you will play a vital role in bringing down broken structures, constructing sturdy walls using cement, sand, stone, and bricks, and adding vibrant colors through painting. Engaging in basic carpentry work and fencing the school premises will further contribute to the overall transformation. Additionally, you will assist in preparing mixtures of cement, sand, and water, as well as shifting rocks from one place to another, shaping the landscape with care and precision.

From Monday to Friday, you will dedicate your time and energy to these impactful endeavors. While the specific activities may vary based on the ever-evolving needs of each project, your dedication to the cause remains constant. Together, we will adapt the schedule to accommodate weather conditions, local considerations, and unforeseen circumstances, ensuring the safety and efficiency of our work.

By joining us in this meaningful initiative, you become a catalyst for positive change in the lives of countless children. Your efforts will create tangible improvements in the educational infrastructure of Pokhara’s schools, nurturing an environment where young minds can thrive. Together, we will lay the foundation for a brighter future, one built upon the power of education and the unwavering commitment to provide children with the best possible learning opportunities.
