Teaching in El Nido
The teaching program is organized as a formal English class which allows the participants to design and arrange simultaneous and various learning activities. You will not only teach and impart knowledge but inspire and motivate students/learners for life and take important steps in life.
Due to the fast growing tourism industry which serves as one of the backbone of Philippines economy and that El Nido, Palawan is one of the most visited towns for international and domestic tourists, there are high demands for communicating in English as an international language. However, we have noticed that the children within the community do not have much chance to learn and practice the use of English. Thus, this program desires to help the children to have a head start in life by helping them learn and improve their English at a young age.
What’s a good thing in this program, is that you will be able to significantly contribute to the English Language learning of students from elementary, secondary or high school in and around the Municipality of El Nido in the province of Palawan particularly in Nacpan Village located 7th kilometers north away from the town center. This means that your potential students could range from first grade to sixth grade and are between the age of 6 to 12 years old.
The teaching program is organized as a formal English class which allows the participants to design and arrange simultaneous and various learning activities. However, it needs to conform and align with the curriculum by the school such as grammar and conversation exercises. In addition, you are encouraged to be more creative, however, you need to keep in mind that everything should be based on teaching practical English for everyday situations in a fun and engaging way.
Finally, it is the biggest desire of this program that the children will learn from you and that you will also have a life changing experience from the children as well before leaving the program. Thus, making remarkable contributions to the hearts and life of the children.
An important component of this program is the cultural exchange that will occur during the teaching and learning process. Moreover, Filipino children are always amazed and interested in knowing and learning more about foreign lands and countries including their cultures, beautiful places and sceneries, customs, and historic festivals. Thus, you are encouraged to bring pictures and other visuals from your country, friends, family, or objects that highlight your culture to promote intercultural exchange.
On the other hand, teaching is a noble profession that comes with so much responsibility and duty towards students/learners. Thus, at some point, you will not only teach and impart knowledge but inspire and motivate students/learners for life and take important steps in life. Being said so, the main focus of our Teaching program will depend upon the needs of the public schools at that particular point in time.
Your main roles will be, but are not limited to:
Teaching English alongside the local teachers.
Prepares and organizes lessons and meaningful learning activities with the local program coordinator with various ages and grade levels.
Facilitate learning activities such as playing fun games, arts, songs, dances, grammar and conversational exercises, sports and other related activities.

Finally, during the teaching activities, always be on time and be mindful of class schedules and come to school prepared, be creative in preparing lessons in fun and engaging ways, smile and have lots of patience as you are working with children with various personalities and wear a dress that covers their shoulders and knees, and basically the more that is covered the better. Kindergarten in Palawan
Come and make a valuable history to the lives of the children by taking care and teaching them at a local kindergarten and Children Development Centers while enjoying a slow pace, peaceful and white sand beaches of Tigman Village, Aborlan, Palawan. You will get the chance to teach English to kids and care for them, but you will also enrich your own perspective by working alongside the Philippine people in one of the most beautiful islands in the world!
Municipality of Aborlan is a first class municipality and situated on the central portion of the beautiful island of Palawan. The seat of the municipal government is located 70 km Southeast of Puerto Princesa City. Similarly, the municipality serves as the gateway to the southern municipalities. It is accessible from the major growth centers of the province through the Palawan South Road extending from Puerto Princesa City down to the municipality of Brooke’s Point and Bataraza via Aborlan.
Moreover, stretching to an area of 80, 733 hectares, the Municipality is divided into nine coastal Barangays and ten non-coastal Barangays. One of the nine coastal Barangay is called Tigman Village where the TGL center is situated. Similarly, most of the programs and placement are also located such as Elementary schools for Kindergarten Program. Other placements and programs also took place at nearby Barangays or areas.
On the other hand, one of the major focuses of the country’s government is to put emphasis on education as it is vital for inclusive growth and national development. Thus, teaching and educating the children at a young age serves as the foundational pursuit for knowledge. This knowledge starts at the Kindergartens.
Kindergarten is a preschool educational approach based on engaging in practical activities and social interaction as part of the transitions for the children from home to school and to slowly adjust to formal education. Children whose ages range from 3 – 6 years old are already attending pre – school and kindergarten so that they cannot miss crucial periods of development in the early years. You will also teach an average of 20 – 45 kids in a class.
Thus, this program lets you partake in the day-to-day operations of childcare facilities and child development centers. Not only will this give you an insight into authentic Filipino life, but you will also get engaged into the day-to-day operations of the kindergarten. The kindergarten is located in the Tigman Village or areas of Aborlan, Palawan and the children who attend are between the ages of 3 and 6 years old. You can also get to your placement via walking or riding a tricycle for nearby areas.
Moreover, your primary task will be to communicate with the children using English and teaching them the language in a fun way. Besides teaching, you will also support the local staff with the care taking of the children. This task can range in activities, from organizing classes, playing games and guiding activities to feeding, cutting nails, combing hair and so on.
Further, the children are always interested in learning more about foreign lands and you are encouraged to bring pictures from your country, friends, family, etc or objects that highlight your culture in order to promote intercultural exchange.
Finally, it is the desire of the programs that the children will learn from you, but you will also leave the project having learned from them!
Don’t worry about not having special qualifications. The whole idea of this program is to provide any help possible, whether it is merely enabling children to hear English pronunciation by native English speakers or any additional help with other academic subjects. Please keep in mind that anything you can offer is very much appreciated and we are grateful for it. The main purpose is that aside from the additional learning and multi – cultural exchanges, you have touched the lives of the children that will surely leave a special space in their hearts.
On the other hand, the core focus of our Kindergarten program will depend upon the needs of the Child development Centers or schools at that particular point in time.
Your main roles will be, but are not limited to:
Care Taking of Children such as preparing their food and feeding them.
Help in the children’s basic hygiene and sanitation routines such as cutting nails, combing hair, hand washing, teeth brushing and so on.
Teaching English alongside the local teachers.
Prepares and organizes lessons and meaningful learning activities.
Facilitates children songs, dances and storytelling activities.
Facilitate learning activities such as playing fun games, coloring and other related activities.
Join other activities conducted at the center or school.
Prepare assessment exercises.
Mark the monthly examinations or assessment.
Moreover, in order for you to prepare for the Kindergarten Program, the description and other information about the school that we work on are stated below.
Subjects: Numbers, Coloring, Sing and Dance, Alphabets, Shapes, Basic Writing are the main focus of the curriculum in the Kindergarten. Thus, you will only teach English and help the children improve their English Communication skills and other sets of skills.
Other info: The school is very grateful to form a good working relationship with participants. They feel that participants are one of the best mediums to have a good foundation of English Communication skills as well as social interaction with foreigners. They are also grateful that the participants enjoy themselves and get to visit the Village and the community, the island’s attractions and historical places.
Please note that there are no classes during the school holidays and school breaks, however, the program still runs as we organized an English Summer Camp which takes place at the TGL center, Village Plaza, and at the Tribal Multi – Purpose Hall. The recipients are also children from the village ages ranging from 3 to 6 years old and are the Tagbanwa Tribe children located at nearby Barangay. This means that the Kindergarten program runs and is available all year round.

Teaching in Palawan
Make the most of your trip truly worthwhile and remarkable while helping the local children of Tigman Village, Aborlan, Palawan improve their English language skills at a local school and enjoy the quiet and peaceful life afar from the noise of the cities. This program will provide you with an insight into the Philippine educational system and specifically that of Palawan. You will be teaching English to children within all age groups at an Elementary school in a fun and practical way and give something back to this beautiful island community!
Similarly, most of the programs and placement are also located such as Elementary schools for Teaching Program. Other placements and programs also took place at nearby Barangays or areas.
As the island of Palawan hailed as one of the most visited islands in the world by both local and international tourists, communicating in English is a must as English serves as the language of our international communication in all areas such as politics, media, internet and tourism. Thus, having a good command of English helps us to have more opportunities in life, first of all, our career and it should be started at a young age to learn the language. Hence, the first step is teaching English to children within all age groups at an Elementary school in a fun and practical way and giving something back to this beautiful island community!
On the other hand, though English subjects have been taught in schools, we have noticed that the children within the community don’t have much chance to learn or practice the use of English. That’s where you can help!
In addition, you may find yourself contributing to the elementary schools in and around the municipality of Aborlan. This means your potential pupils could range from grade 1 to grade 6 and are between the age of 6-12 and with an average of 20 – 50 children in a class.
Moreover, the teaching program is organized as an informal English class which allows you to arrange a variety of activities such as music, songs, playing games, arts, sports, conversation exercises and grammar exercises. You may also teach Mathematics and Science subjects.
Just get creative but always keep in mind that everything should be based on teaching practical English for everyday situations in a fun and engaging way!
Finally, an important component of this program is the cultural exchange that will occur. The pupils at the school are always very interested and keen to learn more about your family, country, culture and way of life. Therefore, we highly encourage you to bring a lot of pictures from home as they will be very much appreciated by the kids!
On the other hand, the core focus of our Teaching program will depend upon the needs of the Elementary schools at that particular point in time.
Your main roles will be, but are not limited to:
Teaching English alongside the local teachers.
Prepares and organizes lessons and meaningful learning activities with the local program coordinator and local teachers.
Facilitate learning activities such as playing fun games, arts, songs, dances, grammar and conversational exercises, sports and other related activities.
Join other activities conducted at the school.
Prepare assessment exercises.
Checked assessment exercises.
Mark the monthly examinations or assessment.
Moreover, in order for you to prepare for the Teaching Program, the description and other information about the school that we work on are stated below.
Subjects: Prescribe subjects on the curriculum that includes Mathematics, Science, English, History and the like. Those subjects are taught using English, Filipino and Mother Tongue Language. Thus, you will only teach English, Mathematics and Sciences and help the pupils improve their English Communication skills and other sets of skills.
Please note that there are no classes during the school holidays and school breaks, however, the program still runs as we organized an English Summer Camp which takes place at the TGL center, Village Plaza, and at the Tribal Multi Purpose Hall. The recipients are also children from the village ages ranging from 6 to 12 years old and are the Tagbanwa Tribe children located at nearby Barangay. This means that the Teaching program runs and is available all year round.

Give back to the people of Palawan by constructing and renovating their houses, health care centers, schools, or other community facilities. In Palawan, there is a high demand for assistance in construction and renovation work. Many people on this Island don’t have the funds to renovate their houses or upgrade communal places such as schools, healthcare facilities and community centers. This program is sure to bring you closer to the kind and friendly people of Palawan.
The province of Palawan is in the MIMAROPA region and is the largest province in the country. In addition,Palawan is one of the best places to visit in the country, as it is consistently ranked as one of the best islands in the world, and for a good reason. It boasts white sand beaches and islands, crystal clear blue waters, a spectacular variety of marine life, shipwreck sites, amazing waterfalls, majestic towering cliffs, historic places, savory local delicacies and dishes and rich and diverse culture groups that will offer you amazing, breathtaking and unforgettable experiences.
However, despite the beauty and progressive Palawan, there are areas and places that need to be given attention to especially communal infrastructures. These communal infrastructures include schools, plazas, churches, health centers, multi-purpose halls, community centers and help in constructing Local people’s houses as there are many people living on the Island of Palawan who don’t have the funds to upgrade their living conditions.
These communal infrastructures need to be worked on, upgraded, constructed and renovated in order to provide quality, safe and conducive learning spaces for children, spaces to conduct historic and community events and for locals to have a comfortable home and so on. In addition, construction is vital in creating buildings and safe spaces that connect communities, creating jobs and improving the standard of the society. And that’s where you can extend help and extra hand.
In this project, you will work alongside local Palawan people and this will give them a unique insight into the lifestyle and culture of the population of this beautiful island. Moreover, you will join other participants from all over the world to jointly work on these construction efforts.
You don’t need special qualifications or even to have experience in construction efforts but do consider this job requires physical strength and endurance in hot weather conditions. In addition, your work will depend upon the needs of the school, community or recipients at that particular point in time.

Environmental Conservation Palawan
Dedicate your time to rehabilitating the mangrove areas of Tigman Village, Aborlan, Palawan, which have been in severe decline for more than 10 years. Spend your time on conserving Palawan’s mangrove plantations, a vital habitat for its marine life. This unique ecosystem area serves as a coastal barrier, slowing storm surge, and reducing beach erosion. Other Eco-efforts include coastal clean-ups, planting moringa tree seeds, making Eco-bricks and making signage about the environment for the local village.
The province of Palawan is in the MIMAROPA region and is the largest province in the country, abundant with wildlife sanctuaries, marine reserves, and world heritages. Being the location of Palawan Island, one of the most biodiverse islands in the Philippines, the area has one of the most beautiful seascapes in the world receiving much local interest for conservation.
Our hope through this project is to conserve mangrove plantations and reverse the trend of deteriorating mangrove sites, which has seen a rapid decrease during recent years. This can realistically only be achieved through the education of younger generations, combined with the continual physical work of planting new mangroves.
That’s why we’ll be asking you to serve as a fortifier of our natural coastal barrier, which is slowing storm surges, reducing beach erosion, and cleaning the beaches. We also need your help with encouraging environmental conservation through training sessions with children.
Another thing is the plastic and environmental system, unfortunately Filipino people have become used to throwing their garbage anywhere. That’s why we came up with collecting Eco-bricks from the villagers and making it as well.
For our Tree planting portion of our program, we have chosen the Moringa seeds for their multitude of benefits, availability in the local area, and because they will grow easily here.
Moringa is a “superfood” that has a lot of health benefits as well. It is also known as “miracle tree” or horseradish tree. The pods, leaves, seeds and roots are all edible. It is a favorite of local villagers as their home remedies may include seeds or leaves for prevention and treatment of various diseases. The pods or leaves may also be used in local cuisine, as it pairs well with dishes of fish or meat.
This program is perfect for you if you have a good level of physical fitness, enthusiasm, and a passion for making a change that benefits the environment, as well as the local community!
Do consider this job requires physical strength and endurance in hot weather conditions. In addition, your work will vary from day to day.
Meanwhile, your main roles will be, but are not limited to:
Participate in Coastal Clean Up drive;
Collect mangrove seedlings;
Plant mangroves;
Prepare Lessons and Instructional Materials for Environmental Conservation Educational Campaign to Local Public Schools and to the Community.
Teach children and the community about Environmental Conservation particularly in Mangrove Rehabilitation;
Make Signage about Environmental Conservation;
Make Eco – Bricks.
Help the community in its Clean and Green Programs.
Moreover, throughout your stay you are expected to adhere and follow all the stated rules and regulations set, thus, failure to comply may lead to your termination from the program. Notably, you are expected to always be on time, be respectful with the local staff, the local people, fellow participants and to the community in general at all times, respect the culture, way of living and traditions of the village through wearing modest clothing, use appropriate words and politeness.
Finally, during the mangrove plantations and other activities, be careful and mindful, do not harm marine life and mangroves, under the influence of alcohol is strictly prohibited and ask assistance from your local coordinators for tasks that you are not sure with and of course to enjoy and make the most of your stay and make memorable learning experiences.

Healthcare Education Palawan
If you are a qualified and aspiring medical practitioner or a person looking for a career in medicine or in a related field, this is the program you need to choose in this amazing location! Participants with a medical background who would like to gain more experience in rural healthcare practices will have the chance to exchange medical knowledge with local doctors and nurses. Each day is a new challenge to provide healthcare to the local people with very basic equipment and supplies.
Municipality of Aborlan, situated on the central island of Palawan, aims to eradicate public health problems through healthcare programs. However, there are limited numbers of medical and healthcare workers – and that’s where your help and assistance is much needed.
Moreso, many residents live below subsistence level specifically in the rural areas of Aborlan which is far away from the big hospitals in the cities. In these areas, residents tend to go to the local health care centers or units/clinics for their health care treatments for free as they do not have sufficient funds to support their medical needs. This center is what we called Rural Health Units/Clinics under the Local Government Units (LGUs) of certain Municipalities, thus, this project will take place at the Municipality of Aborlan’s Rural Health Unit/Clinic. .This Rural Health Unit (RHU) clinic serves as the main source of free healthcare for communities around the town. It aims to improve the health of the general public, especially for those who live below subsistence level, and to eradicate and eliminate public health problems.
On the other hand, this healthcare program requires participants with medical backgrounds or studying on a pre – medical track, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, occupational/physical therapy, or working in a relevant field who can lend a helping hand as well as healthcare professionals.
In addition, participants will tend medical assistance at the Municipality of Aborlan’s Rural Health Unit/Clinic where they can assist in the daily operation of the unit/clinic. They also have tasks to teach basic and personal hygiene for school children and further tend to the healthcare needs of the village through a medical check up and house visitation for babies, children and elders. Moreso, this program has a minimum of five (5) hours a day.
Moreover, during your placement at the Rural Health Unit/Clinic, the participants general duties will include the following: Shadowing, observing and assisting local Doctors and nurses, assisting patients/residents in their health concerns, assisting local Doctors/nurses on duty on operations and other medical procedures, and participating in basic triage, wound care, blood pressure measurement and medication preparation.
However, this program may encourage at least four to five participants at a time since the Rural Health Unit/Clinic will only accommodate the stated numbers due to unit/clinic physical condition.

Palawan Village Healthcare
Join and support our healthcare education activities and campaigns in Palawan!
If you are a qualified medical practitioner, an individual seeking a career in medicine, or someone interested in assisting with healthcare education, this program is for you. You can contribute to the development of healthcare in Aborlan, Palawan area by either working as a professional in the field or teaching basic first-aid and methods to maintain personal hygiene to the local community.
The municipality of Aborlan, situated on the central island of Palawan, aims to eradicate public health problems through healthcare programs. However, there are limited numbers of medical and healthcare workers – and that’s where your help and assistance are much needed.
A large number of people, particularly in Aborlan’s rural districts remote from the major cities’ hospitals, live below the subsistence level. Because they lack the money to pay for their medical requirements, people of these communities typically travel to the nearby healthcare units, clinics, or centers for free medical care. This project will be conducted at the Rural Health Unit/Clinic of the Municipality of Aborlan which serves as the main source of free healthcare for communities around the town. It aims to improve the health of the general public, especially those who live below the subsistence level, and to eradicate and eliminate public health problems.
Our healthcare education initiative is in its early stages and requires the expertise of both experienced medical and healthcare professionals as well as those interested in teaching basic first-aid and personal hygiene. The great extremes in hygiene and health practices necessitate the need for project participants on either end of the medical spectrum. We need participants who can educate people on basic first-aid and personal hygiene, such as washing hands, brushing teeth, and general cleanliness, and qualified professionals to conduct health camps and dental checkups. This contributes to the prevention of many preventable health issues and diseases.
As a participant in this project, you will mainly join the teaching and awareness activities in schools and around the village. You can actively teach the importance of basic hygiene, emphasizing proper tooth brushing, hand washing, and general body cleanliness. Many daily routines we carry out without thinking are not common practices with the children we will meet, but starting simple education early can go a long way for immediate and future healthcare.
However, this program may encourage at least four to five participants at a time since the Rural Health Unit/Clinic will only accommodate the stated numbers due to the unit/clinic’s physical condition.
