Culture Week in El Nido

Spend a week in El Nido getting to know both its famous turquoise lagoons and its rich local culture. This culture week is perfect if you want to mix island hopping, food experiences and crafts with language lessons and local connections.

The Culture Week has fixed start dates on the first and third Monday every month.

You learn basic Filipino phrases, try your hand at cooking traditional dishes and explore markets where locals shop every day. You also join handicraft workshops such as hand fan making and bracelet or necklace crafting, which give you a hands on feel for local traditions.

Alongside these activities you experience El Nido’s natural highlights through an island hopping trip to clear lagoons, beaches and limestone cliffs. By the end of the week you feel more settled, informed and ready for a longer stay or volunteer project.

Schedule

Monday: You meet the team, go through house rules, expectations and safety information and get an introduction to Filipino culture and basic language. You explore the town center and nearby areas, arrange a SIM card if you need one and end the day with a welcome dinner.

Tuesday: You join a Filipino cooking class where you prepare three traditional dishes and learn more about local ingredients. Later you attend a language class to build up useful phrases for daily conversations.

Wednesday: You spend the day on an island hopping tour around El Nido, visiting lagoons, beaches and clear waters. In the evening you return to your accommodation to rest.

Thursday: You tap into your creative side with workshops in hand fan making and bracelet or necklace crafting. In the evening you join a karaoke night which is a relaxed chance to socialize and have fun.

Friday: You take part in an orientation session for the project or program you will join next week and visit or observe the site. You use the rest of the day to prepare materials and plans so you can start your next stage smoothly.

Kindergarten in El Nido

Help young children in Nacpan Village build their first English words while living close to one of the most beautiful coastlines in the Philippines. This kindergarten program is ideal if you enjoy working with small kids and want to experience rural life near El Nido.

You support children aged 3 to 5 as they prepare for primary school by teaching basic English through songs, dances, games and simple storytelling. Classes focus on numbers, colors, shapes, the alphabet and early writing skills, all delivered in a playful way.

You also assist local staff with daily routines like feeding, hygiene, hand washing and nap time so the classroom stays calm and caring. The experience helps boost the children’s confidence and English skills while giving you a close look at village life and Filipino culture.

English Teaching in El Nido

Teach school age children in Nacpan Village and support their English learning in a region known worldwide for its beaches and lagoons. This program is a good fit if you want classroom experience while staying in a small, friendly community outside the main tourist center.

You work with students aged around 6 to 12 in elementary and sometimes secondary levels, helping them improve English communication through interactive lessons. Activities include simple conversations, games, songs and creative exercises that make learning more enjoyable.

By planning lessons with local teachers you help strengthen the school’s English program and give students a better chance in a tourism driven region where language skills matter. At the same time you experience daily life in El Nido beyond the typical visitor route.

Support construction and renovation projects in Nacpan Village while living close to El Nido’s famous beaches and bays. This program is ideal if you want to help improve basic infrastructure and do practical work that directly benefits a local community.

You assist with building and upgrading schools, health centers, community halls and family homes in a village where many people live in simple bamboo and nipa houses. Tasks can include painting, basic repairs, preparing and arranging materials and helping create shared community facilities.

Working alongside local residents and other participants you gain hands on experience and get to know the daily rhythm of village life. Your contribution helps create safer and more comfortable spaces for families and children.

Schedule

Monday – Welcome and Orientation: You meet your team, review house rules, expectations and safety guidelines and receive an introduction to Filipino culture and language. You explore the town, organize a SIM card if needed, talk through the week’s project plans with coordinators and end the day with a welcome dinner.

Tuesday to Friday: You spend these days on construction and renovation sites helping with light building work, painting, cleaning and preparing materials. You work for at least four hours a day with guidance from coordinators so that tasks are safe and well organized while leaving time to rest or explore.

El Nido Experience

Enjoy five days of island life in El Nido with a mix of diving, beach time, island hopping and relaxed evenings. This program is perfect if you want a short, experience focused stay that combines adventure with plenty of time to unwind.

You explore coral reefs and marine life through fun dives and snorkelling, then spend quiet days on beaches like Lio and Nacpan. Between activities you enjoy local food, simple nights out, karaoke and time to walk through El Nido’s town center.

The week offers a good balance between movement and rest so you can recharge while still seeing some of the best known spots in the area.

Schedule

Day 1 – Arrival and Fun Diving: You arrive in El Nido, check into your guesthouse and meet fellow participants during a short introduction. You join a fun diving session with a second dive to explore more underwater sites and end the day with a welcome dinner.

Day 2 – Lio Beach: You spend the full day at Lio Beach swimming, relaxing and enjoying the quiet surroundings. You have time to read, walk along the sand and simply enjoy the views.

Day 3 – Island Hopping: You join an island hopping tour that takes you to places like Big Lagoon, Small Lagoon and Seven Commandos Beach. You spend the day on the boat and beaches, with time for snorkelling, swimming and relaxing before returning to your guesthouse.

Day 4 – Nacpan Beach and Karaoke Night: You transfer to Nacpan Beach and enjoy a laid back day by the sea in a more remote setting. In the evening you join a karaoke night with the group and stay overnight at a local resort.

Day 5 – El Nido Town and Massage: You explore El Nido town center on foot, visit small shops and soak up the atmosphere. Before you leave or continue your journey, you finish with a relaxing body massage to round off the experience.

Culture Week in Palawan

Spend a week soaking up island life in Palawan while learning the basics of the language, tasting local food and exploring spots most travellers never see. This culture week gives you the perfect soft landing before your volunteer project, with a mix of local experiences, outdoor adventure and creative workshops.

You explore scenic places such as Estrella Waterfalls, discover Nelson’s Farm and spend time in areas that are usually only known by locals.

You support the construction and renovation of schools, health centers, homes and other community facilities that residents rely on. Tasks can include light building work, painting, basic repairs, arranging materials and helping improve shared spaces.

By working side by side with local coordinators and other participants you learn simple construction skills and understand the daily realities of the village. Your efforts help create safer, cleaner and more welcoming spaces for the community.

Environmental Conservation Palawan

Join a hands on environmental conservation project in Tigman Village and help protect Palawan’s coastline. This program is ideal if you enjoy working outdoors and want to take real action against plastic pollution and habitat loss.

You support mangrove restoration by collecting and planting seedlings to strengthen coastal areas and provide shelter for marine life. At the same time you help collect plastic waste, transform it into eco bricks and join clean up activities to keep beaches and communities cleaner.

Another key part of the program is education, where you help create simple lessons, talks and signage to teach children and local residents about conservation. By combining field work and community outreach you gain practical experience in environmental work while supporting long term change.

Schedule

Monday: You begin with a welcome and orientation session covering house rules, expectations and safety, followed by an introduction to Filipino culture and basic language. Tuesday: In the morning you head out to plant mangroves in Tigman Village and learn proper techniques for restoring the coastal ecosystem. In the afternoon you focus on sustainability by collecting plastic waste and turning it into eco bricks for future use.

Wednesday: You continue mangrove planting in the morning to expand the restored areas. In the afternoon you channel your knowledge into simple educational activities and materials that help the community understand conservation.

Thursday: You keep planting mangroves in the morning to strengthen coastal protection. In the afternoon you visit a local school or group to lead a talk on environmental conservation, then unwind in the evening with a karaoke night and social time.

Friday: You finish the week with a final mangrove planting session in the morning. In the afternoon you design and install conservation signage in key spots around the community and spend the evening resting and reflecting on what you achieved.

Palawan Experience

Slow down and discover the quieter side of Palawan with a week of rivers, waterfalls, tribal villages and relaxed beach time around Aborlan. This experience is ideal if you want a mix of light adventure, culture and rest in a beautiful rural setting.

You explore Talakaigan River, Aborlan Waterfalls and peaceful coastal spots where you can swim, picnic and enjoy nature. Along the way you meet members of indigenous Tagbanwa and Palaw’an communities, learn about their traditions and try simple weaving and pottery.

You also spend a day in Puerto Princesa visiting museums, historic sites, a wildlife rescue center and local markets, so you see both the city and the countryside. Throughout the week you enjoy cultural nights, karaoke and time to relax, including the option of a soothing beach massage.

Schedule

Day 1 – Arrival in Aborlan: You arrive at the accommodation in Tigman Village, meet fellow participants and get an introduction to the week. You take a guided walk along the beach and through the village, then enjoy a cultural night with music and dance.

Day 2 – Talakaigan River and Tribal Villages: You spend the morning swimming and picnicking at Talakaigan River. In the afternoon you visit Tagbanwa and Palaw’an tribal villages in Cabigaan, join a simple weaving activity and return to your accommodation to relax.

Day 3 – Aborlan Waterfalls: You hike to Aborlan Waterfalls for a day of trekking, swimming and a quiet picnic by the water. Afterward you return to your accommodation for a calm evening.

Day 4 – Puerto Princesa City: You travel to Puerto Princesa to visit places such as the Palawan Museum, Plaza Cuartel and the city cathedral, and you have time to shop for souvenirs and enjoy a Filipino lunch. In the afternoon you visit the Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center, also known as the Crocodile Farm, before heading back to Aborlan for a karaoke night.

Day 5 – Beach Day and Relaxation: You spend your final day at the beach in Aborlan swimming, sunbathing and taking in the coastal views. You can also enjoy a body massage to end the week in a relaxed state before your onward travel.

Palawan Adventure Week

Spend five action packed days exploring Palawan’s rivers, mountains, caves and sandbars while still experiencing local culture. This adventure week is for travellers who want a mix of hiking, swimming, island exploring and fun nights with new friends.

Throughout the week you visit waterfalls, riverside camps, mountain viewpoints and the famous Puerto Princesa Underground River. You balance active days of trekking, ziplining and caving with relaxed beach time, barbecue nights and shared meals under the stars.

By the end of the week you will have seen some of Palawan’s best known spots as well as quieter local areas, all while travelling with a small group and local team.

Day 1 – Arrival in Aborlan: You arrive at the accommodation in Tigman Village, meet the team and other participants and get an introduction to the program. You join a guided walk around the village to see the beach and local area, then enjoy a cultural night with music and dance before settling in.

Day 2 – Waterfalls and Mountain Adventure: You travel to Narra to visit Estrella Waterfalls and then hike up Narra Mountain to reach the 15th Falls. You share a packed lunch on the trail, relax with your camp buddies and spend the night at a scenic mountain campsite.

Day 3 – River Relaxation and Waterfall Exploration: You enjoy a calm morning and lunch by Manggahan River, then hike to Inuman Banog Waterfalls for more swimming and views. In the evening you head to Batang Batang River Camp for a barbecue night and bonding time.

Day 4 – Sandbar Fun and Karaoke Night: You visit the Aborlan Sandbar for a chilled day of swimming and sunbathing in clear water. After returning to the center you join a karaoke night and share stories from the week.

Day 5 – Underground River and Adventure Activities: You travel to Puerto Princesa to visit the world famous Underground River and enjoy a buffet style Filipino lunch. In the afternoon you experience ziplining, trekking and caving at Ugong Rock Adventures before finishing with dinner at the Baywalk and returning to Tigman Village.

Arrival, Orientation, Accommodation & Meals

Your Arrival

Get ready for a warm welcome to Philippines! Your adventure begins the moment you arrive, with our airport pick-up on Sunday.

For El Nido projects you need to arrive at El Nido (Lio) Airport on Sunday between 08:00 – 17:00.

The fastest way to get to El Nido is to fly directly to Lio Airport from Manila. At the moment AirSwift is the only airline that services the Manila to El Nido route. AirSwift operates up to four direct flights per day from Manila. The travel time is 1 hour & 30 minutes.

For Tigman Village projects you need to arrive at Puerto Princesa International Airport on Sunday between 10:00 – 17:00.

To ensure a smooth transition, we’ll provide you with all the necessary arrival and contact details when you book your program. The local team will be waiting for you, ready to transfer you to your accommodation where you’ll meet fellow volunteers from around the world.

Your Orientation

On Monday, our experienced coordinator will lead an exciting orientation session. This is your chance to get comfortable with your surroundings and dive into the local culture, while also receiving important health and safety advice.

During the orientation, you’ll receive a comprehensive introduction to your program, accommodations, and the exciting projects that await. Plus, you’ll learn all the do’s and don’ts of local customs, giving you a head start on immersing yourself in the rich and vibrant culture of the Philippines.

Your Accommodation & Meals

Your accommodation is included in your package from Sunday night until Saturday morning of your last week, so you can rest assured that you’ll have a comfortable place to call home throughout your journey.

You’ll be staying in shared rooms with other volunteers, giving you the perfect opportunity to make lifelong friends from around the globe. You’ll be accommodated in single-gender dorm-style rooms, ensuring maximum comfort and privacy. The accommodation centers have Wi-Fi connectivity.

If you want to have a single room, then this is available at an extra cost. There is limited availability for single rooms so please contact us for this.

But that’s not all – we’ve got your meals covered too! You’ll enjoy three delicious meals per day from Monday to Friday, and two meals per day on weekends. Plus, if you’re a vegetarian, no problem! We can vegetarian meals for you.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

When should I start to apply?

It is best to apply as early as possible as we have limited placements available in our programs, especially during summer.
You can apply up to 1 year in the future to guarantee your placement.
We do however accept late applications up to 2 weeks before the start date, let us know and we will check the availability for you!

How does my airport pickup work?

Your airport pick-up from is included, and we will arrange this for you on Sunday.
If you would arrive earlier, then we have a meeting point for you in Ubud where we can pick you up.

Can I volunteer with a friend or a group?

Yes you can! We can organize your program together with a friend, just let us know this in the comment section on the application form.
We can also organize. a family trip or a group, just contact us, and we will be happy to help you!

How long does the application process take?

Very fast with us! You fill out the application form, and we go to work for you within hours! For most placements, you will get an answer within 1-2 days.

Can I get a certificate after the program?

Yes, we will provide you with the Certificate after the successful completion of the program. This certificate is provided on request, so just let us know if you would like this!

How many hours per day do I volunteer?

Volunteers usually work for about 4 to 6 hours a day depending on their program type, and there can also be extra preparation time.
You have the weekend off so you can explore the area, go traveling, or just chill and relax on weekends.
