What volunteering with Abroad Escape really looks like
Real Impact. Real People. Real Experiences.

Disabled Children Care — Vietnam
Ho Chi Minh City • Supervised
The Reality: You are here to serve as an assistant, not a lead. Your role is highly structured, supporting local experts with daily care routines in a strictly supervised hospital setting.
The Challenge: It is emotionally demanding. Success here isn’t about high energy; it requires quiet patience, absolute consistency, and the emotional resilience to support children with complex needs.
The Reward: You will experience a profound, non-verbal connection that shifts your perspective on life. By providing extra hands for local staff, you contribute to a more nurturing environment for every child.

Construction Volunteer — Bali
Ubud • Physical & Active
The Reality: Community needs dictate the pace. You’ll work alongside local families on essential tasks—laying bricks, painting classrooms, or repairing community hubs—building the “Ground Truth” of Bali by hand.
The Challenge: It is hot, humid, and demanding. You will get dusty, sweaty, and tired. This is genuine labor, not a photo op, requiring a “can-do” attitude in tropical conditions.
The Reward: The impact is permanent. Unlike other projects, you can physically see the result of your hard work at the end of every single day—leaving a legacy that lasts for years.

Teaching Assistant — Kenya
Nakuru • Classroom Support
The Reality: Your role is to support, not lead. You are an essential pair of extra hands for local teachers, helping with lesson delivery, grading, and classroom management within an existing Kenyan curriculum.
The Challenge: Expect high energy and low resources. Classrooms are often overcrowded and loud; you’ll need to be highly adaptable and follow the school’s established rhythm rather than trying to reinvent it.
The Reward: You will become the highlight of the students’ day. From the high-fives at the school gate to the deep gratitude of the local teachers, you’ll experience the vibrant heart of the Nakuru community.

Teaching Assistant — Zanzibar
Stone Town • Education Support
The Reality: Based in the heart of historic Stone Town, you serve as a support pillar for local staff. Your primary mission is building confidence through English conversation, pronunciation, and reading practice in primary or secondary schools.
The Challenge: You will need to adapt to “island time.” Resources are minimal, and the pace is relaxed; success requires a proactive mindset to find where your help is most needed within the classroom.
The Reward: You’ll live in one of the world’s most atmospheric locations while providing students with the exact language tools they need to succeed in Zanzibar’s thriving tourism industry.

Volunteer Childcare — Cape Verde
Tarrafal • Early Childhood Support
The Reality: You are here to provide calm, consistent support to local educators. Your days involve the essential work of early childhood: guiding creative play, assisting with meals, and maintaining hygiene for children aged 2–6.
The Challenge: Impact is measured in small, quiet moments. It requires deep patience and an “all-in” attitude for the high energy of young children. Success here is found in consistency, not in big, one-off gestures.
The Reward: You build a bridge of trust that transcends language. By providing a safe, nurturing foundation for these children, you get to experience the authentic, unhurried “No Stress” rhythm of Tarrafal life.
